Famous identical twins Surabhi Mehra and Samriddhi Mehra, more popularly named Chinki-Minki, have officially broken up as a duo – effectively ending one of Indian television and social media’s iconic jodis.
The sisters, who became famous with their lively twin act in The Kapil Sharma Show and gained massive following through their fun and energetic videos on different platforms, shocked fans with their announcement via Instagram post on Thursday.
The twins shared a joint statement from their page ‘Surabhi.Samriddhi’, the post read as follows:
“With a heavy heart, we are parting our ways now as jodi. We’ve decided to explore life on our individual journeys from here on.”
Accompanying the announcement was a heartfelt caption that read:
“Grateful for everything we’ve shared and excited for what lies ahead. Keep cheering for both of us with your love and blessings.”
The news astonished fans and stirred up strong feelings. One fan reacted, “Whattt!!! No wayyyy.” Another begged, “Kyaaaaa nooo wayyy, please don’t do this.” The response was a mix of disbelief, sadness, and even some playful confusion, with some joking, “Finally we’ll know who’s Chinki and who’s Minki.”
Although the news was surprising, many fans and followers reacted positively to this announcement and praised the sisters for prioritising their growth as individuals. They wished the sisters the best in their journeys.
The pair became household names for their comic timing, their matching outfits and, most importantly, the chemistry they shared and dynamic work they did together socially, in dance, in acting, and skits. The two were a unique act in the entertainment space, and they are dynamic dualities in everything they do.
In terms of work, Surabhi and Samridhhi will navigate their careers independently on this new journey. As of recently, the two are reported to be in rehearsals together for their latest joint project, named Goriya Chali Gaon, a show committed to some combination of entertainment with emotional and social awareness/real-life struggles. Given their personalities and friendly personas, it is exciting for fans to think about how Surabhi and Samridhhi will continue to develop individually on this journey.
