Much awaited sequel of Kyuki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, by television mogul Ekta Kapoor, is clearly generating lots of sentiment and nostalgia amongst long-time fans who grew up with the daily dose of the Virani daily drama. The original show ran from 2000 to 2008, and is regarded as a cultural phenomenon, as it defined an era of Indian TV storytelling.
While much has been speculated about Smriti Irani’s potential returning to the franchise, quite a few popular players including actors Hiten Tejwani, Gauri Pradhan, Sandeep Baswana, Shilpa Agnihotri and Rakshanda Khanare, are already in negotiations to return for the sequel. But apart from them, there’s also a confirmed name: Shakti Anand, who played Hemant Virani.
The actor has himself confirmed the news in an interview with a leading portal saying, “I am glad and happy to be a part of the show. This is the first time I am a part of a sequel to the show in which I debuted 25 years ago. It is weirdly emotional to be back in the world of Kyunki, and the makers are adding a completely different shade to the story.”
The team behind the sequel have constantly been working to keep the essence and family-oriented concept of this show, which has been a household name for years now. Meanwhile, a source close to the production has shared that the sequel is going to bring out a fresh concept that will certainly honor the legacy of the show, while also catering to the younger audience, experiencing the show for the first time.
