Ekta Kapoor has finally released the first promo of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, in what will likely be Indian television’s most-emotional return of a hit series. Ekta has revived television’s original superstar, with Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay returning to play Tulsi and Mihir Virani respectively 25 years after we had assumed that we’d never see the pair of characters again.
The promo was initially supposed to take place on July 3 for the show’s 25th anniversary, but due to creative delay caused the promo to be late. The long anticipation is certainly worth the hype and wait because the show is going on air from July 29 at 10:30 pm on Star Plus, and any time thereafter on JioCinema/Hotstar.
The promo kicks off with this super cozy Indian fam, all gathered around a restaurant table, chatting about the OG Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi like it’s family folklore or something. The camera then slides over to Tulsi; Smriti Irani herself, who’s right in the middle of giving her tulsi plant some love at home. It’s got this whole nostalgic vibe that just smacks you in the feels. And just as you’re soaking in the sentiment, she turns right to the camera and drops the show’s title, like—mic drop, honestly.

Ekta Kapoor, who pioneered this cultural phenomenon on Indian television in the early 2000s, is purportedly infusing a new contemporary twist in the storyline to make it more relatable. The continuation will not change the essence of family values, drama, and emotional weight, but it will represent a current moment in time and societal evolution.
