Anshula Kapoor and Rohan Thakkar’s love story started off with the simplest of things—getting into an unexpected late-night conversation.
The pair first connected on an app and started talking at around 1:15 AM on some random Tuesday. “We talked until 6 AM that morning,” Anshula shared on Instagram. “And it’s strange because even then, it felt like something significant was beginning.”
After three years, in a city that meant a lot to her, he planned a proposal that was just as purposeful as their relationship. He knelt down in front of the castle in Central Park in New York City and as an homage to their story, he proposed at 1:15 AM India time (which was the exact time they had their very first conversation together).
“And somehow the world paused just long enough for the moment to feel like magic,” she wrote.
For Anshula, who identified as someone who never really believed in fairytales, the moment felt even more meaningful given the authenticity. “I’ve never been the girl who believed in fairytales… but what @rohanthakkar1511 was able to do was just better.” she said. “Because it was intentional. Thoughtful. Real. Us.”
Through what Anshula described as “ugly tears, shaky laughs, and the kind of happiness I can’t put into words”, she accepted the proposal from the person she calls her best friend, her safe place, and her person.
To celebrate, the couple referencing the first conversation that brought them together, grabbed a bite at Shake Shack. “Our first conversation started because of our love for the shroom burger!” she said with a smile.
“Fav boy, fav city… and now, my fav YES!” she typed, capping things with emojis that encapsulated her joy.
